About
Brian Schwager is a professional guitarist, self-proclaimed pedal junkie, and unapologetic tone aficionado. Known as much for his deep knowledge of gear as for his ability to melt faces with a distinctive, expressive playing style, Brian brings passion, precision, and personality to every stage he steps on.

Brian’s musical journey began early—he credits his parents for placing a trumpet in his hands at the age of four, followed by his first guitar at fourteen. Countless hours of focused practice and musical exploration shaped him into the versatile and dynamic musician he is today.

Early in his career, Brian performed in ska, rock, and country bands, gaining a broad musical foundation. Along the way, he has shared the stage with nationally recognized artists including Blake Shelton, GA-20, Thomas Rhett, Mike Zito, Daniel Donato, Sierra Hull, Umphrey’s McGee, and many others.

In 2019, Brian teamed up with Tom Buckmiller to form the Buckmiller | Schwager Band. The duo quickly made a name for themselves performing throughout the Midwest. In late 2021, they captured first place at the Iowa Blues Challenge, earning the opportunity to compete at the 2022 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee, where they advanced to the semi-finals. Their journey is documented in the award-winning film To Memphis and Back.

Brian’s latest project finds him performing in an all-star band supporting Nashville-based country/rock singer-songwriter XOLEX.

Throughout his career, Brian has performed with many of Central Iowa’s top musicians and has recorded both with his own projects and as a collaborator on numerous others. Whether on stage or in the studio, Brian Schwager continues to bring authenticity, tone, and soul to everything he plays.
